We have the honor to invite you to the exhibition in memory of the artist Olga Katsuba, a talented artist whose work has left a significant mark on the cultural life of Kazakhstan. The exhibition brings together paintings and graphics from private collections and the family foundation, as well as works reflecting different stages of the artist's creative career. The exhibition provides a unique opportunity to get to know her artistic heritage, see rare works and touch the world of her inspiration.
In Olga Katsyub's Almaty series of watercolors, the native, much-loved, long-familiar appearance of the city appears new, slightly mysterious and very poetic. The subjects of her watercolors are simple. They create a non-ceremonial, non-glossy look of Almaty. Episodes of everyday urban life. Recognizable famous and even iconic places (Cimbulac, Ascension Cathedral, observatory) show their unexpectedly homely and cozy character. Conversely, some old two-story wooden houses suddenly acquire significance, almost grandeur. All this is due to the fact that every sheet, every sketch, every image is imbued with love for what is depicted. It is this sense of involvement and personal passion of the author that helps to create such a convincingly attractive image of the disappearing old Alma Ata. Turns her into a legend, a fairy tale. Olga Katsyuba is a master of watercolor painting. Landscape subjects in her hands become a diary of personal experiences. Each sheet has its own special mood, from light melancholy and elegiac sound to the bravura marches. These works, created easily, in one go, with pleasure and without any strain, actually conceal a high level of craftsmanship that gives the author such a degree of creative freedom.
